The 1st En Lefko Film Festival has been held in Athens, April 26th – May 3rd 2017. The basic program included movie screenings in two legendary, central Athenian cinemas, Danaos and Ideal. But that was not all. Our purpose is to take our screenings and alternative events out in the city, in unexpected venues that bring out unexplored city spots.
Danaos’ history starts at the beginning of the 70s, when Georgiopoulos brothers built one of the most contemporary cinemas of the time. With the –then avant-garde VISTARAMA system, and careful film choices, it instantly became a hot spot for the cinefile Athenians. Since then, it constantly redevelops. In the mid-80s Danaos adds DOLBY SR system, while it keeps renewing the cinema hall, the foyer and the screening quality.
Since 1972, its first operating year, till this day, the administration stays in the family. And since 1990, Sotiris Georgiopoulos with his son Ilias, took over. The capacity of Danaos 1, where En Lefko Film Festival’s screenings will be held, is 600 seats.

The Athens College – Psychico College Theater, whose doors first opened in 1982, serves a dual role: on the one hand, it caters to the needs of the School and the broader College community; on the other hand, as a cultural center, it enhances the cultural and artistic life of the College and its educational and social contribution to the general public.
Beyond the purely in-school events, during its first 20 years of operation, the College Theater has hosted more than 5,000 events with spectators exceeding 2,500,000 in number. Leading Greek and foreign artists, distinguished orchestras and famous theater and dance ensembles have performed on its stage. Major conventions, exhibitions and other professional events have also been held in its spaces.
